The Fifield House: How to choose countertops
As the Fifield house construction continues, Ann-Marie has been working to finalize details, including countertops. You may be thinking that means only the kitchen, but there are actually many different rooms in the house that need countertop finishes, and for Ann-Marie, it’s important that they’re all durable and long-lasting.
She’s decided to go with Flo Form Countertops throughout the entire house, as their quality is top-notch and their selection gives her a lot to choose from.
The Final Countertop Decisions
The kitchen countertops, including the full height behind the stove range wall, will be this beautiful Montauk Quartz. The soft pearl undertone of this stone is elevated with warm sandy dappling and an ivory marble pattern that mixes so well with their Traditional Farmhouse design style.
This same quartz stone will also become the countertops in the laundry room, as it’s a durable stone that will withstand both high-traffic areas.
The wet bar is going to feature this striking Calcatta Gold. The bold veins in this stone will let the wet bar stand out as a bit of a feature, while the neutral colours still allow it to blend well with the rest of the home.
In the master ensuite and powder room, Ann-Marie is keeping things simple with the Organic White Ceaserstone Quartz. Because quartz is one of the hardest minerals in the world, it’s a great choice for bathrooms, which usually see a lot of wear and tear.
This subtle stone is perfect for the 12-inch backsplash that will be going behind the vanity in the master ensuite, as well as the wrap-around for the shower nice and curb. Choosing a stone with no vein brings in that natural element without there being too much going on in a smaller space.
Finally, the boys’ bathroom will feature Raw Concrete. Ann-Marie went with this darker quartz to give this bathroom a more masculine feel, pairing it with black fixtures and lighting.
