6 Simple, stunning ways to incorporate colour into your kitchen
While we love a good all-white kitchen, we also love how pops of colour can really showcase the owner's personality.
Different colours evoke different emotions, which is probably why we’re drawn to certain ones in our homes.
Warm colours, like yellows, reds and oranges, evoke emotions such as happiness, love, and passion. Cooler colours, like greens, blues, and even purples, tend to bring a sense of calmness to them.
So exactly how do you incorporate colour into your kitchen? Whether it’s already finished and you’re looking to add a little something, or you’re starting the design process from scratch, we have six simple, stunning ways to incorporate colour into your kitchen.
Go For Coloured Cabinets
Designing a whole new kitchen? This might be your opportunity to include colour by going with all-coloured cabinets, or breaking it up with one tone on the upper cabinets and another on the lower cabinets. We love choosing colours that have a neutral base to them, such as a green or blue. This allows you to change other design elements up over the years while keeping your cabinets.
Choose A Coloured Island
Not wanting to take the plunge and have all your cabinets coloured? Keep the majority neutral and make the island the place where you add some colour. Allow yourself to be bolder in your colour choice here, as the island will be serving as a focal point.
Dress Your Windows
Choose colourful or patterned curtains or window treatments, like roman blinds, to add charm to your kitchen. Fabric is an instant and easy way to change your space as your tastes evolve without breaking the bank.
Swap Out Tea Towels
Tea towels and napkins are a great way to test out different colours in your space. A small collection of a variety of patterns and colours allows you to keep a constant rotation. This is also a great area to play with colours as the seasons change, as the cost is low to buy and you need little storage room.
Hang Artwork
Have an empty wall in your kitchen? This is the place to add some visual interest in the form of art or a wall hanging. Antique and thrift stores are some of the best places to source affordable pieces that add character to your kitchen. Or purchase a digital print download from Etsy and support an artist while you’re at it!
Follow The Colour Trends of 2022
Not exactly sure which colours you’re drawn to? A good place to start is with this year’s colour trends, which include moody hues, evergreens, and muted tans. Don’t overthink it - go with what you’re gravitated towards.
